Project Description: General contractor for site capping and upland/wetland restoration of a three-acre former burn dump.

More than 5,000 cubic yards of material was excavated and relocated to the permitted footprint of the cap area, and a geosynthetic and soil cap was installed. Much of the material was extremely soft and peat-like, so TFCI’s approach to the excavation and dewatering sequence was critical in making it possible to carry out the work in the late fall/early winter construction season.

Following site capping, the stream bed was reconstructed with native stones, coir logs, and more than 12,000 live stakes to stabilize the stream bankings. TFCI seeded and installed an erosion control blanket over the site and installed thousands of plugs, trees, and shrubs in the wetlands and uplands.
